Australia Region Holds Off Europe-Africa Region, 3-1

Hills Little League matched Australia's win total from a year ago in its first World Series game, downing Europe-Africa Region Champion Emilia Little League from Italy, 3-1 in the third game on the opening day of the 70th Little League Baseball World Series.

Europe-Africa couldn't get anything going as long as Clayton Campbell was pitching. Campbell held Europe-Africa hitless over five innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven.

Elia Sartini took the loss for Europe-Africa. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

The game's last lead went to Australia thanks to a second inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI single by Ryley Gonzalez.

Australia platd runs in the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Australia scored on an RBI single by Campbell, scoring William Unitt.

In the sixth inning, Europe-Africa pushed across its only run of the day on a passed ball.
