Latin America Region Edges Australia Region, 3-2

 
 

Jose Torres brought home the winning run to give Latin America the lead in the sixth inning, as Latin America hung on to beat Australia 3-2 on Monday.

Tejada was solid at the plate for Latin America. Tejada went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Esmith Pineda baffled Australia, striking out 11 batters. Pineda allowed two earned runs, four hits and three walks over five innings.

Brent Iredale racked up two RBIs on one hit for Australia. He homered in the sixth inning.

RESULTS: Little League Baseball® World Series

Gonzalez got the win in relief for Latin America. Gonzalez pitched one inning and allowed no runs.

William Edwards took the loss for Australia. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed two runs.

The bottom of the second saw Latin America take an early lead, 1-0. A solo blast by Tejada started the inning off.

Latin America pushed across one run in both the fourth inning and the sixth. In the fourth, Latin America scored on a groundout by Pineda, plating Leonardo Bernal.
